Frequently asked
Direct answers to the questions men actually ask.
Eligibility
Do I have to live in Massachusetts?
Yes. We are licensed and operate exclusively in Massachusetts. Every prescribing physician on our team holds an active MA medical license, and our pharmacy partners are licensed under 247 CMR 6.09 to dispense in the Commonwealth. If you move out of state, we'll help you transition to a provider who can continue your care.
What's the minimum age?
21 years or older. TRT is not appropriate for adolescents or young adults whose hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis is still developing.
Can I qualify if I had a previous cancer diagnosis?
Active prostate or breast cancer is an absolute contraindication. A history of treated, in-remission cancer requires careful physician review and often coordination with your oncologist. We do not make blanket rules — we make case-by-case clinical decisions.
Process
How long until I get treated?
Typically 7–14 days from eligibility check to first dose. Most of that time is waiting for your morning fasting lab draw and results. We will not skip the lab workup to move faster.
Where do I get my labs drawn?
At any Quest Diagnostics or Labcorp Patient Service Center in Massachusetts — we send the order to your phone. Mobile phlebotomy is available in many MA areas through partners like Speedy Sticks.
What if I already have recent labs?
If your labs are within the last 6 months and include the panel we need, your physician may be able to use them. Most patients still need at least one repeat morning draw to confirm.
What does the video visit involve?
A 30-minute video consult with a MA-licensed physician. We review your labs, medical history, and goals; discuss benefits and risks (including TRAVERSE cardiovascular data and fertility considerations); and decide together whether treatment is appropriate.
Treatment
What's the default treatment?
Once-weekly subcutaneous or intramuscular testosterone cypionate, self-administered at home. It's the modality with the strongest long-term evidence and the most steady serum levels.
Will I have to inject myself?
For injectable therapy, yes. Subcutaneous injections use a tiny insulin-style needle that most patients tolerate easily. We provide detailed video instructions and your physician walks you through the first dose. Topical gels are available for patients who prefer not to inject.
Will TRT make me infertile?
Exogenous testosterone suppresses your body's own testosterone and sperm production. This is reversible for most men but not guaranteed. If fertility now or later matters to you, we discuss it before any prescription and offer fertility-preserving protocols (gonadorelin/hCG) or alternatives like enclomiphene that raise testosterone without suppressing fertility.
Do you offer pellets?
No. Pellet insertion is an in-clinic procedure that we cannot safely deliver via telehealth, and the evidence base for pellets is weaker than for injectable cypionate.
What about HGH, peptides, or "stacks"?
We don't prescribe them. Any clinic offering you growth hormone, growth hormone secretagogues, or anabolic stacks alongside TRT online is operating outside the standard of care.
Safety & monitoring
What does TRAVERSE actually say about heart safety?
The TRAVERSE trial (NEJM 2023) showed that testosterone therapy was non-inferior to placebo for major adverse cardiovascular events in 5,246 men with hypogonadism. It also found small increases in atrial fibrillation, pulmonary embolism, and acute kidney injury — risks we discuss with every patient.
How often will my labs be checked?
At baseline, 3 months, 6 months, and then every 6–12 months once stable. We monitor total testosterone, hematocrit, estradiol, PSA (age-appropriate), and other labs based on your clinical picture.
What if my hematocrit goes up?
If your hematocrit exceeds 54%, we hold or reduce the dose and refer for therapeutic phlebotomy. We will not continue therapy unsafely.
Pricing & logistics
Do you take insurance?
Not currently. Our membership is cash-pay. HSA/FSA may be eligible — we can provide receipts. Lab work can often be billed through your insurance separately if you'd like.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancel at any time. We'll provide a complete copy of your medical record and can coordinate transition to another provider.
Is testosterone a controlled substance?
Yes — Schedule III under federal and Massachusetts law (M.G.L. c. 94C). All prescriptions are sent via DEA-compliant electronic prescribing (EPCS) to a Massachusetts-licensed pharmacy. We comply with MassPAT (the MA prescription monitoring program) where applicable.
